The Ten Principles of Arya Samaj

These ten principles, formulated by Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati, form the foundation of Arya Samaj philosophy and guide our community's actions and beliefs.

1

Primordial God

Vedas are the origin of all true knowledge and the things that are known through God (Eesvara)

2

God

God is the True Bliss, formless, omnipotent, just, merciful, unborn, infinite, unchanging, eternal, unique, omnipresent, omniscient, omnipresent, omnipresent, immortal, immortal, fearless, eternal, holy and creator, worthy of worship.

3

Vedas

Veda is the book of all true knowledge. Reading, teaching and listening to the Vedas is the ultimate religion of all Aryans.

4

True & Untrue

One should always be ready to accept truth and to renounce untruth.

5

Conduct consistent with properties by virtue of humanity

All acts should be performed in accordance with Dharma that is, after deliberating what is right and wrong.

6

Welfare of the World

The prime object of the Arya Samaj is to do good to the world, that is, to promote physical, spiritual and social good of everyone.

7

Behave lovingly

Our conduct towards all should be guided by love, righteousness and justice.

8

Dispel Avidya (ignorance)

We should dispel Avidya (ignorance) and promote Vidya (knowledge).

9

Promoting the good of all

No one should be content with promoting his/her good only; on the contrary, one should look for his/her good in promoting the good of all.

10

Well being of all

One should regard oneself under restriction to follow the rules of society calculated to promote the well being of all, while in following the rules of individual welfare all should be free.
